What Is Reiki?

Pronounced "RAY-key". 'Rei' meaning 'universal' and 'ki' meaning 'spirit' or 'lifeforce energy'. It is a Japanese technique designed to connect and syncrhonize you with the Universal Source of love, light and harmony. It is for stress reduction and relaxation. It is usually administered through the laying on of hands. However, it can be done without hands ever touching the recipient. With this method, hands are placed 3 to 5 inches above the body.. The energy is then channeled to flow through the crown of the practitioner's head into his/her heart and out of his/her hands to the recipient.

Reiki can be used on anyone. It works well with any medical or therapeutic treatments. Reiki energy treats the whole person: mind, body and spirit. When our energy is low then we are more prone to stress and sickness. When we have high or balanced energy we are more likely to be peaceful and healthy. Reiki also releases blocked energy which allows the body's energy to flow freely.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently: Some recipients experience releases such as deep breathing, crying, coughing, and sometimes laughing. Most experience it as deep relaxation, some feel radiant energy flowing around and through them. Some may not feel anything at all. After a session, most people feel an increase in their well-being. Some may even feel increased energy or pain reduction. Reiki has also been shown to speed up healing time. It is intelligent energy. It does exactly what it needs to do, and goes where it needs to go at that moment.
